Smooth CE 7.4 Elliptical Trainer

The Smooth CE 7.4 Elliptical Trainer is an extension of Smooth Fitness’s line of in the home fitness equipment. As a company, Smooth Fitness has propelled the home exercise market away from treadmills and toward elliptical trainers. Exercisers prefer the more natural motion of an elliptical trainer, and the great workout that they can get without the bone crushing pounding that comes with every step on a treadmill.

In addition to a safer, less injury prone workout when compared to a treadmill, the CE 7.4 also enables the user to get a great upper body workout through the forward poles that are interlinked with the foot pedal mechanisms. The combination of motions between upper and lower sections of the body creates a workout for the core of the body too. Compare these results to a treadmill, which usually just causes joint pain in the ankles and knees until the exerciser just plain gives up.

The CE 7.4 features a long 21 inch stride that makes it comfortable for even the tallest exercisers. Instead of mechanical resistance found on lesser quality elliptical machines, the Smooth CE 7.4 Elliptical Trainer uses a heavy duty (and heavy weight) flywheel combined with electromagnetic braking. This means that the braking mechanism never physically touches the flywheel. By varying electric current to the magnets, the 7.4 gives a very quiet, smooth bump-free ride along with extremely accurate control of exercise intensity. Sixteen levels of intensity in both forward and reverse create plenty of exercise variety.

Exercise intensity can be controlled by the CE’s preprogrammed workouts, or by entering your own custom workout. The machine also includes a wireless heart rate monitor that the elliptical trainer’s onboard computer can read. The machine will keep your heart rate within a range you specify. This technology would not be possible without the granular control of resistance that the electromagnetic brake allows. Finally, the brake never physically touches the flywheel. This dramatically improves the durability and lifespan of the trainer.
